The North of England Art Club Activities
The Club has a light and airy painting studio and a second
studio for drawing and watercolours. The main studio is used for regular
painting sessions:
Portrait Group, Mondays, 13.00 - 16.00 By popular demand Monday Portrait sessions will be from 1300 hrs until 1600 hrs.The session fee will be £3
Life Group, Tuesdays 11.00 - 14.30
Life Group, Wednesdays, 19.00 - 21.00
The studio is available at other times, and all day on
Thursdays and Fridays for independent painting. The Thursday group provides a
friendly, supportive atmosphere for exploring your own concepts and choice of
medium.
The Life Group also meets on one Saturday each month.
The Club arranges occasional Saturday workshops and
demonstrations. Small extra charges apply for
workshops and to cover the cost of models in the Portrait and Life Groups.
Members arrange informal en-plein air painting sessions,
visits to exhibitions, and small groups get together for painting holidays or
to attend short courses. In March 2012 we introduced a series of workshops at lunchtime on the second Thursday of each month. A club member gives a brief presentation on an artist or art topic they are interested in, followed by general discussion. These have been very successful and still continue (2017). Recently the bi-monthly competitions have been related to the subject of the presentations. The programme for 2018 is in preparation. See Events page for details of past presentations and Programme page for current presentations and competitions.
The Club holds at least one selling exhibition each year and members participate in other events throughout the region.
Now view the "Gallery" pages to see illustrations. See 'Events' page for other current organised activities.
