I
studied Fine Art at Newcastle University and more recently at Sunderland. I
have always painted but since my retirement from work in art education, I have
been able to paint full time in my garden studio. I attend life drawing at
the club, and find the longer monthly Saturday sessions really valuable.
I am continually inspired by regular walks in Northumberland and
recently have made a series of large pastel drawings of the local abandoned
quarry. I love the work of Paul Nash and other mid twentieth century
English romantic landscape artists and also Wayne Thiebaud and Richard
Diebenkorn.
