My favourite painters are Winslow Homer and Walter Sickert. It intrigues me that the American should choose Cullercoats to spend fifteen months in the 1880s on one of only two trips to Europe. Having lived in north London for seven years I love Sickert's seedy views of life in Camden Town and Islington. My aim is to develop a style which is a fusion of these two painters.
